Bruny Island
Bruny Island is separated from the Tasmanian mainland by the D’Entrecasteaux Channel. Bruny Island has something for everyone, from delicious handcrafted cheese and beverages to rugged bushwalks in the majestic South Bruny National Park.
Cradle Mountain
It’s easy to see why Cradle Mountain is beloved by many Tasmanians. Cradle Mountain sits within the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. It’s one of the state’s most iconic sites, offering visitors both easy or more challenging bushwalks, all with breathtaking views. It’s also home to abundant wildlife and even rare plant species.
Strahan
Strahan is one of the most well-known towns on the west coast. It’s full of convict historic sites and stories from when it was first settled in the late 1800s. For nature lovers, it offers plenty of bushwalks through the surrounding rainforests, as well as scenic tours aboard the West Coast Wilderness Railway and Gordon River Cruise.
Bay of Fires
Bay of Fires is famous for its crystal-clear waters, pristine sandy beaches and majestic, lichen-covered rocks. Its clear waters make it a popular spot for snorkelling and diving.
Coles Bay
Coles Bay sits on the edge of the Coles Bay Conservation Area and Freycinet National Park – home to the famous Wine Glass Bay and Hazards mountain range. Popular for fishing, bushwalking, beachcombing and sampling the region’s produce, this destination is perfect for both family holidays and romantic weekend getaways.
Tasmania has too many world-class locations to call out each one, however honourable mentions went to Bicheno, Boat Harbour and Stanley.
