Secure your cargo

As we continue feel the impacts of car and possession theft, there's never been a more important time to ensure you secure and lock your vehicle before you walk away.

Keys

It's easy to misplace your keys, but avoid the temptation to leave a spare key on your tyre or in a magnetic holder under your car—these are the first places a thief will look. Instead, consider keeping a spare key at your workplace or with a trusted friend. This way, if you lose your keys or lock them in your car, you have a backup plan.

At home, ensure your car keys are stored out of sight and away from doors and windows to prevent easy access by intruders.

Security

Whenever you exit your vehicle, make sure the windows are closed and the doors are locked. Don’t make it easy for intruders to access your belongings. Additionally, avoid leaving valuables in plain view, as this can attract thieves.

If you park your car in a garage, ensure the garage doors and windows are secure, and that any alarms or anti-theft devices are activated. For older vehicles, consider using a steering wheel lock, wheel lock, or other anti-theft accessories. Investing in a vehicle tracking device can also be a wise decision, as it can assist the police in locating your car if it’s stolen.
